As in spam submits through your add form? Im thinking more along the lines of robot submited spam than general human spam?

Oh... I get spammed... alot.

Not so much at all in the submit or validate section of linx,
mostly through outlook express.

At one time I had another form on there,
so I'm not sure where the Email addy got out for the harvesters to grab it. It was a contact type form.

yeah email spam is a pain, one thing i use is cpanels spamassasin set to tolerance of about 3, it pretty much wipes out most spam tho unfortunately the occasiocal client email goes missing and i have to search for it :(

Reason i was asking is im thinking of adding an option to the validate engine to check for a MX record for the contact email address's domain when submitted.

Ok, now your losing me... I know much to nothing in this area.
Thats why I haven't set up the spamassasin or catch-all, and I didn't want to not get important Emails or even more important have bounch back Emails, that could ruin me.

So I have left the Email thing alone for now...

With all that said... :) what is MX record?

Lol, yeah i have spamassasin set to tag every spam mail with the word "SPAM" in the title, i like to use a mail client so i then have outlook express filter anything with spam into a seperate spam folder that i can check for anything lost lol

With regards to a MX record, its part of a standard DNS entry that shows where email should be delivered. I notice a lot of spammers use made up email address's which checking for this MX record may prevent.
